1. Mr Smith Goes To Washington (1939)
Dir: Frank Capra
The ultimate idealist movie, played by the ultimate idealist, James Stewart. This brilliant Frank Capra movie is sure to turn the most hardened cynic into an inspired performer. Jefferson Smith is elected to congress because he is seen to be green and a pushover. But when he stumbles across a corrupt deal whilst attempting to present his first bill, well there is nothing quite the human resolve in a true David versus Goliath battle. If you have not seen it, treat yourself to what may become your all time favourite movie.
2. Citizen Kane (1941)
Dir: Orson Welles
To this day, Orson Welles' classic is considered the best film ever made, a parallel story of media magnate William Randolph Hearst and Welles' character Charles Foster Kane. Kane with all his wealth and power campaigns for office amongst other great achievements but its culmination will surprise. A masterpiece.
3. JFK (1993)
Dir:Oliver Stone
The most fascinating and brilliant piece of modern film making that first supplied a genuine mainstream argument and grounds for an alternative to the Lee Harvey Oswald single shooter theory. Brilliant editing, direction and acting make this a classic for the ages.
4. Dr Strangelove (1962)
Dir: Stanley Kubrick
Nothing spoke the Cold war better than Peter Seller's multiple roles in this Kubrick black comedy. Its dark brooding sardonic mood is a one-off. Enjoy!

A politician, sick of the spin doctoring hires a hitman to kill himself and then goes on a free speaking tour. His popularity and mood soon rises and then he realises he had better start avoiding the hitman.
7. Primary Colors (1998)
Dir: Mike Nichols
It was written by anonymous and caused a stir with obvious comparison's to Bill Clinton. It is the story of what went on on the way to the top!
8. All the King's Men (1949)
Dir: Robert Rossen
Academy Award winner for Best Picture: It's the story of the rise and fall of a corrupt politician. It has even been recently remade in 2006 with Sean Penn and Jude Law.
9. All the President's Men (1976)
Dir: Alan J. Pakula
Reporters Carl Bernstein and Bob Woodward uncover the details of the Watergate scandal that leads to the resignation of the President Richard Nixon.
10. Fahrenheit 9/11 (2004)
Dir: Michael Moore
The man who made documentaries popular again, it's the story of the Bush administration's push to go to war in Afghanistan and Iraq. Moore argues that this may have only been for the hip pockets of the Bush family and cronies. It was immensely popular, but it did not stop Bush's re-election!
